Hiking-The risk of hiking alone – Utica, NY – The Observer-Dispatch, Utica, New York.

I have hiked alone for many reasons, and by choice.  Solitude being paramount; but also because it’s difficult to find a partner who can take adequate time off to make the trip with me.

  1. I hike alone sometimes and find it very rewarding. I think it forces me to pay attention to my surroundings more and allows me to go at my own pace and in my own direction (both mentally and physically). I’m usually surprised at what I can accomplish.
