Appalachian Trail…a look at those “in training” and a word about eyewear

There are mosquitoes on the Appalachian Trail; but I’m sure they know that by now.  I think I still have my own pair of “funny glasses” that I wore for the trip – big, thick-lensed, heavy, needed Croakies to hold them on.  Ah, the memories!

I have also worn contact lenses, which are somewhat of a chore to bring along since they require saline solution and cleaner, etc.  Backup eyewear is essential.  Sunglasses are important to have if weight allows, otherwise a broad-brim hat (I wore a ball cap) does the job.
